Shaken by the inhumane incidents that scarred the early 2000s, Ms. Uma Ghurka
- a pioneering first-generation entrepreneur and compassionate philanthropist — vowed to transform her anguish into action. Determined to stand up for women’s safety, dignity, and equality, she ignited a movement that would go on to inspire many. Thus was born the AHWAAHAN initiative.

Through DEO in Mahbubnagar, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Nalgonda, Rangareddy districts, the government schools integrate self-defence and gender sensitization sessions.
Funding and implementation partner. Implements self-defence and gender sensitization program for vocational students aged 16–18.
First Consortium member. Integrated self-defence program in education and livelihood initiatives in Ayodhya district since 2020, including funding and monitoring.
First training partner for AHWAAHAN self-defence. Focused on building confidence and self-protection skills for girls/women using customized martial arts techniques.
Supports education for poor and needy girls. Implements AHWAAHAN program for intermediate and nursing students, fully funded by SRCT.
Charitable institution for low-income students. Implemented AHWAAHAN program for 8–10th grade students with value-based education.
Non-profit working in tribal areas and urban slums. Jointly initiated AHWAAHAN in an urban slum community.
Implemented AHWAAHAN program for students in Maharashtra to promote self-defence and gender sensitization.
